Politics of the Empire

The Electors

The Empire consists of a number of independant states joined as one. These states are either City States or Provinces. The cities that have grown in power are ruled by a burgomeister and are called City States. In the time of Sigmar, the lands of the chieftains were split into the provinces. There were originally twelve provinces but there are now only ten, the realms of Solland and Drakwald dissolved.

All the counts are at least distantly related, due to intermarriage and the passing of titles. Many counts are also the princes of one or more cities, although the title doesn't always hold power. The Emperor Karl Franz is the Count of Reikland and Prince of Altdorf. The title of Emperor is given to one of the counts, who elect one of their own at the passing of an Emperor, and so are called Elector Counts. There are also a small number of others who have earned the title Elector. At the current time there are five such Electors on top of the ten Counts. Only the Counts may compete for the title of Emperor.

The Electors consist of:Elector, Grand Theogonist of Sigmar

of the ten provinces, and:

The three Sigmar votes usually go to the Count of Reikland, and so they have extreme influence for their numbers, and the Ulric vote to the Count of Middenland.
