Middenheim stands on a pinnacle of rock
rising out of the surrounding forest. The intimidating fortress
is accessed by four highways built on tall viaducts, containing
wooden drawbridges to isolate the city. There are also many
chairlifts and rope ladders to transport goods and people up the
cliffs. The rock contains a labyrinth of tunnels and catacombs,
with restricted access.
From Middenheim's tall towers, it is possible to look over the Great Forest in the south, the Drakwald to the west, the Middle Mountains rising out of the all-round sea of treetops to the east.
Middenheim is the City of the White Wolf, the symbol of the god Ulric, who is the patron god of the city and its territories. The Temple of Ulric is the centre of his cult throughout the Old World. The cult is very powerful, its High Priest being one of the Imperial electors.
